As outlined in the Fair Credit Reporting Act, credit card issuers have the right to lower credit limits at will and may do so when a cardholder appears to be in financial trouble. If you missed due dates or carry high debt and only send the minimum payments, the issuer may shorten the limit. https://www.bankrate.com/finance/credit-cards/how-to-prevent-your-credit-limit-from-being-lowered

Unlike U.S. bank accounts, Venmo balances aren't insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. (FDIC).

Can you use Paypal as your bank account?
Is PayPal considered a bank account? PayPal is not considered a bank and does not receive FDIC insurance protection. However, you may receive FDIC insurance with some of PayPal's products and services that are offered through partner banks.

Venmo — now a subsidiary of PayPal — is another popular payment app. Venmo users typically use the app to send money to friends, thereby avoiding the hassle of exchanging cash or checks. While PayPal has expanded into a wider variety of payment-related services, Venmo is still mostly a peer-to-peer payment app.

Mom had a Venmo account. They suddenly sent her a bill telling her they sent her $150. It was NEVER received in her bank or through her Venmo account. They REFUSED to help her out

So, because Venmo and PayPal are owned by the SAME COMPANY, she wrote to their President and CEO, Dan Schulman, at the time

Within 24 hours she received an apology and her problem with Venmo was TOTALLY GONE!

She IMMEDIATELY closed her Venmo and PayPal accounts. She'll NEVER use their services again.

And here is a letter June 15, 2023 written to Dan Schulman from Senator Elizabeth Warren, Senator Robert Menendez, Senator Jack Reed and Sherrod Brown Chairman Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs

We write in response to reports of widespread fraud and scams on Venmo, a peer-to-peer (P2P) instant payments platform that is owned by PayPal.1 We seek to understand how Venmo has allowed fraud and scams to proliferate on its platform and the steps that Venmo takes to keep users’ money safe

Senior in parking lot
Video from Pubity at https://www.tiktok.com/@pubity
